The first thing that is worth noting about gardening is just how good it is for your body. Spending hours in the gym can be very boring. But getting out in the garden and planting flowers, growing your own food and just making it look as nice as possible is a great way to burn calories. You actually can burn just as many calories from a few hours gardening as you can getting all sweaty and bored in the gym.

Keeping an eye on your BMI and making sure you are healthy once you have a baby is something many moms look to do. Well here is a bit of trivia for you and that is gardeners tend to have a far lower BMI than those who do not. Plus if you are growing your own food as well as the lower BMI, you will have plenty of good food to eat.

Which brings us to another point, healthy eating. Gardening is a fantastic way for you to get into the habit of eating natural, healthy and organic food. It can also save you a fortune as this kind of food can be very expensive in the store. Making meals with food you have grown with your own two hands is one of the best things ever!

Gardening can also help keep those stress levels in check, which is very handy when you have a new baby or even a couple of kids keeping you up all night and asking you for juice boxes 24/7. Getting outside and tending to plants or growing a new vegetable can really help keep that stress at bay.
